Montgomery Wards sold their Gibson-made "Carson J. Robison Model-K" guitars all through the 1930s. During it's decade long tenure with the Wards mail-order catalog, the CJR Model-K went through several incarnations. The early Model-Ks were based on two smaller sized Gibson products: the Kalamazoo models KG-11 and KG-14. Then briefly, between 1939 and 1940, the Carson J. Robison Model-K became a 16" wide jumbo guitar with a body shape and size foretelling Gibson's J-185, which was offered some ten years later.
